Helping improve logistics and supply chain management in support of USMC Marine Expeditionary Forces
FAIRFAX, Va., November 10, 2009 — SRA International, Inc. (NYSE: SRX), a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations and commercial clients, today announced it has won a $4.4 million contract from the Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM). The USMC Passive Radio Frequency Identification (pRFID) Infrastructure Support and Sustainment contract covers one base year plus four option years.
The MARCORSYSCOM is continuously looking for ways to improve its integrated logistics capability and overall responsiveness to the systems and equipment needs of the warfighter. The USMC will use pRFID as a part of a comprehensive suite of automatic identification technologies (AIT) to facilitate accurate, automatic data capture. The Marine Corps will leverage pRFID in the supply chain to improve the management and execution of operational logistics processes within the Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEFs) at Camp Lejeune, Camp Pendleton and Okinawa, Japan.
By initially enabling the MEFs with integrated pRFID solutions, the Marine Corps will provide the foundational infrastructure to validate the use of pRFID in the USMC supply chain, develop baseline metrics, identify new opportunities and establish new metrics.
SRA will provide pRFID infrastructure support modifications, sustainment and follow-on services, and standardized pRFID solutions for MEFs. SRA also will provide project management; system maintenance support and sustainment services; system engineering and enhancements; and training. The goal for SRA is to deliver a secure, reliable, fully integrated and functional pRFID capability to assess the operational value of pRFID for in-transit, in-storage and in-repair asset visibility within the USMC enterprise, including but not limited to its supply chain partners and customers.
“We have assembled an exclusive team that represents industry-leading experts in pRFID implementation with more than 900 implementations worldwide,” said SRA Vice President of Enterprise Logistics Solutions George Batsakis. “Our team will help the Marine Corps fully characterize the requirements and benefits of pRFID, and better understand how to translate this technology into improved service for the warfighter.”
The SRA team includes GlobeRanger and RFID Global Solution, Inc.
