SRA-built system will make moves easier for DOD personnel
FAIRFAX, Va., November 19, 2008 — SRA International, Inc. (NYSE: SRX), a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations and commercial clients, today announced the deployment of the U.S. Transportation Command (USTC) Defense Personal Property System (DPS). SRA has been working with USTC on the DPS program since 2004 and the base contract is valued at $66.5 million.
DPS is an end-to-end management system that encompasses all aspects of the military move process. It permits family members, government managers and industry moving companies to plan, schedule, contract for, move and receive shipments. It also allows industry to be paid and families to collect on claims for damages. Every member of the military services will use DPS when they move their families and household belongings from assignment to assignment during their tenure.
The DPS facilitates the $2 billion industry of global mobilization and personal property relocation of more than 500,000 shipments moving each year between 300 duty stations in the states and overseas. The DPS is the cornerstone of the congressionally mandated initiative to improve the quality of life for all military service members and Department of Defense (DOD) civilians.
"We have been working together with SRA to develop and deploy a system that will make life easier for our service members when they are relocated," said Army Lt. Col. William Carberry, the USTRANSCOM Joint Program Manager for DPS. "It's all about improving quality of life."
According to SRA President and CEO Stan Sloane, “Streamlining the often-stressful components of a move for a military family truly does help to put families first. Our military personnel deserve all the support we can provide.”
SRA designed DPS as a web-based, self-service system to offer real-time access for government and industry users to handle items such as online rate solicitation, traffic distribution, managing and tracking shipments, evaluating performance, processing invoices, and submitting and adjudicating claims.
